Product Overview

Engineering Excellence

The H2A1/M2A1 Ammunition Box is the result of applying NATO STANAG precision manufacturing standards to a product purpose-built for the operational realities of India’s armed forces. Each box is fabricated from high-strength defence-grade steel, seam-welded for hermetic integrity, powder-coated in Olive Drab to military specification, and validated through all five NATO-standard quality tests before dispatch.

Manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 certified conditions at our Govindpura, Bhopal facility, the H2A1 designation serves Indian Army procurement requirements while the M2A1 designation serves NATO-aligned international export requirements — both products manufactured to the identical specification.

Field Guide

How To Use — Step-by-Step

Operational guidance for field personnel, logistics operators, and armourers responsible for the handling, use, and maintenance of the H2A1 / M2A1 Ammunition Box.

01
Inspect Before Loading

Inspect the box for visible damage to body, lid, seals, latches, and handle. Verify both latches operate freely and lid opens and closes correctly. Do not use a box with compromised seals or structural damage.

02
Load Ammunition

Load specified ammunition in correct orientation per ammunition manufacturer guidance. Do not exceed rated capacity of 200 rounds. Ensure linked belt is correctly arranged.

03
Seal and Latch

Lower lid firmly and engage both latches in sequence. Verify both latches are fully engaged. Label box with contents, lot number, and date per unit SOP.

04
Transport and Stow

Carry using fold-flat handle. Stack boxes in NATO-standard orientation on vehicle racks, depot shelving, or in Carrier 6A units. Secure against movement during transport.

05
Field Storage

Store in cool, dry conditions away from direct heat sources and chemicals. Inspect seals and latches periodically during extended storage.

06
Empty Box Handling

After ammunition is expended, clean interior of powder residue and moisture. Close and latch for return to depot. Boxes are reusable across multiple operational cycles.

Operational Use Cases

Deployed Across Operations

The H2A1 / M2A1 Ammunition Box is deployed across a wide range of operational and institutional contexts, serving armed forces, paramilitary, and OEM customers across India and internationally.

— Indian Army — Mechanised Infantry
Mechanised Infantry Battalion Resupply
Scenario: A mechanised infantry battalion requires rapid forward resupply of 7.62mm M80 linked ammunition for IFV-mounted GPMGs during a tactical exercise.
Outcome: H2A1 boxes pre-loaded at divisional ordnance depot are transported via logistics vehicles, carried to forward positions using Carrier 6A units, providing rapid ready-to-use ammunition delivery with full seal integrity intact.
— Paramilitary — BSF / CRPF
Border Security Force Post Resupply
Scenario: High-altitude border posts require weather-resistant ammunition storage capable of withstanding extreme cold, humidity, and altitude for extended periods.
Outcome: H2A1 boxes maintain hermetic seal integrity across the full temperature range encountered at high-altitude posts — from sub-zero winters to monsoon humidity — protecting ammunition across multi-month posting cycles.
— Army Ordnance Corps — Depot Operations
Armoured Unit Depot Storage
Scenario: An ordnance depot requires stackable, NATO-rack-compatible ammunition storage for bulk stock holding of 7.62mm M80 linked ammunition.
Outcome: H2A1/M2A1 boxes stacked four-high on NATO-compatible shelving in depot conditions, providing space-efficient, structurally sound bulk storage that maintains ammunition condition over extended holding periods.
— International Defence OEM — Export
Export Supply Chain Integration
Scenario: An international defence export order requires NATO STANAG compliant ammunition boxes compatible with the purchasing nation's existing logistics infrastructure.
Outcome: M2A1-designated boxes manufactured to full NATO STANAG specifications integrate seamlessly into the client nation's ammunition logistics system — no interface modification required.
Real-World Application

Operational Example

— Field Example

FORWARD AREA RESUPPLY: During a large-scale field exercise, a forward infantry company requires 4,000 rounds of 7.62mm linked ammunition delivered to a forward operating base. Twenty H2A1 boxes are loaded at the brigade ordnance point, placed into four Carrier 6A units, and transported by logistics vehicle to the forward area. The hermetically sealed boxes arrive with full ammunition condition integrity despite road movement, dust exposure, and temperature variation. All latches remain secure throughout transport. At the forward position, boxes are opened and ammunition is immediately available for weapon loading — no quality compromise, no operational delay.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from procurement officers, logistics managers, and technical staff regarding the H2A1 / M2A1 Ammunition Box.

What is the difference between H2A1 and M2A1?
H2A1 is the Indian Army designation. M2A1 is the NATO and export designation. Products are functionally and dimensionally identical — same specification, different designation system.
What ammunition types are compatible?
Primarily designed for 200 rounds of 7.62×51mm M80 NATO linked ammunition. Also compatible with equivalent NATO-standard belted/linked ammunition of similar dimensional profile.
What quality tests does every box undergo?
Five NATO-standard tests: Jolt, Drop, Air Pressure (3.9S), Hot Water Leak, and Load Test (1800 kg). No box leaves our facility without passing all five tests.
Is the box reusable after emptying?
Yes. Designed for multiple operational deployment cycles. Inspect seal gasket, latches, and body after each use. Replace seal gasket if wear is detected.
What is the surface coating?
Military-grade powder coating in Olive Drab (OD Green) per NATO/Indian Army specification. Provides corrosion resistance, UV stability, and chemical resistance.
Can custom markings be applied?
Yes. Customer-specified text, markings, lot numbers, and stencilled identification can be applied. Provide specifications at order placement.
